NASCAR Media Hamilton hopes to make the Rim home to displaced racers who racedat the Music City Motorplex (the former Nashville Speedway), which will be closing. This past season was the last for Music City Motorplex. The City of Nashville plans to develop the land the track currentlyoccupies. Last week former Fairgrounds drivers Darrell Waltrip and Sterling Marlin met with city officials, hoping to persuade them to keepthe track open, but they failed in their attempt. Highland Rim is

a quarter-mile asphalt track 20 miles north of Nashville. According to Hamilton, his heart had a lot to do with the decision. He said that the first race he ever saw was at the Rim where his father, the late Bobby Hamilton, started racing. Hamilton went on to say that he and his dad considered buying the track several years ago but “the timing wasn’t right.” With the closing of the fairgrounds track, hundreds of drivers lost their racing home. Hamilton hopes those drivers, along with their fans, find a new home at Highland Rim. Hamilton plans to start the 2010 race season at the Rim sometime in mid-March. Information will be made available on the track’s website:www.highlandrim.com
